Bernardo Winery
Bernardo Winery is San Diego's oldest operating vineyard and winery that gives visitors a chance to get away from the city and experience a family friendly and relaxed environment. In addition to learning how wine is made, visitors can check out the cute little wooden cottages that have been transformed into shops including artisans such as a goldsmith and glassblower.
Enjoy lunch at the Cafe Merlot, where limited patio seating offers views of wagon wheels and old farm equipment that has been enhanced by wrought iron decor. The restaurant food is not cheap, but it does offer bottles of wines for $15-$30 a bottle and by the glass for around $5.
The Bernardo Winery gift shop and wine tasting area are located next to the Cafe Merlot. The wine tasting area is free for up to four samples. You can get souvenier glasses for a few bucks each.
The Bernardo Winery is open from 9am - 5pm.
