Carlsbad Beach

Carlsbad beaches are located in the affluent beach town of Carlsbad, California. Carlsbad is north of La Jolla and south of Oceanside. The Carlsbad beaches are a great place for a family beach vacation because you avoid the more crowded San Diego beaches but still have easy access to San Diego's best attractions. Some of the Carlsbad beaches are private, but many of the public beaches are very nice.

Carlsbad Directions

Carlsbad Beach directions are quite easy. If you are coming from the north or south, take the Interstate 5 and get off at the Tamarack Avenue exit. Off the exit ramp head west on Tamarack Avenue, the Carlsbad State Beach is located at 100 Tamarack Avenue.

Lifeguards are located all along the Carlsbad State Beach. Beach showers are located at the corner of Tamarack Avenue and Christiansen Way. There is a parking lot on Tamarack Avenue but most people park on the street.

Carlsbad is a quaint town really set up well for weeklong vacation rentals and time shares. The street that runs along the beach in Carlsbad offers some usual beach type shopping opportunities like surf shops and summer clothing.

The five mile long Carlsbad State Beach which is open to the public combines plenty of beach access and parking options. The more crowded northern Carlsbad State Beach caters to day trippers, families, and teenagers. The less crowded South Carlsbad State Beach offers more privacy and has beach side camping and hiking options. Picnic tables are situated along a one mile stretch of walkway at the top of the sea wall starting just south of Carlsbad Village Drive.
