The Del Mar Beaches have year round lifeguards, easily accessible beach restrooms and showers, paid parking lots and metered street side parking. Directions to Del Mar Beaches from the south, exit the Interstate 5 at Del Mar Heights Road and head west. From the north, exit Interstate 5 at Villa de la Valle and turn a short distance west.

Del Mar is well known for its horse racing at the Del Mar fairgrounds from July-September. The Del Mar Fairgrounds also host the very popular Del Mar County Fair from the middle of June till July 4th each year.
Similar to most county fairs, the very large Del Mar Fair has carnival rides, games, entertainment, and exhibits.
One of the activities that is synonymous with Del Mar is hot air ballooning. Hot air ballooning over the Del Mar Beaches and the town allows for a great deal of enjoyment and bird's eye photo opportunities.
