Mount Soledad Veterans Memorial

Mount Soledad Veterans Memorial is located at the top of Mount Soledad in La Jolla. The Mt. Soledad War Memorial honors those veterans and active military who have served our country during times of conflict. The Memorial also educates the public about service to our country and the many sacrifices that veterans make in an effort to preserve the freedoms that all Americans enjoy.

The Mount Soledad Veterans Memorial is one of the most visited spots in all of San Diego. This is because of the amazing view that you get when you are standing on top of Mount Soledad. A huge panoramic view of La Jolla Shores, San Diego, and North County make this a repeated place to hang out for locals and a must-see spot for visitors.

The large Cross in the center of the Memorial is a landmark that can be seen from miles away. The Cross itself has been the subject of considerable controversy over the years as some people have wanted to remove the religous symbol while others have fought to keep it.

Six concentric walls make up the Mount Soledad Veterans Memorial Walls that will eventually hold 3,200 black granite plaques that are purchased by donors. Each plaque is engraved with the names and photos of war veterans. Well over 2,000 are already in place on the Memorial Wall.
