The Orca, Shamu, a huge whale, is the icon of Sea World. The shows with these animals lets onlookers see the brilliance and beauty of these animals. San Diego's Sea World is an amazing adventure for visitors. The Shark Encounter experience allows guests to be taken into a submerged acrylic tube into the sharks' tank. The Wild Arctic ride simulates a helicopter ride into the Arctic, when the helicopter lands guests can see polar bears, Pacific walruses, and beluga whales. Like penguins? The Penguin Encounter presents several species of penguins swimming, playing, and interacting in a natural habitat.
For children, Sea Worlld is an exciting place to learn about sea animals and to also have an opportunity to ride some fun rides on the many Sea World Attractions. The log flume ride is always a favorite ride for visitors because the splash of the water is a great way to cool off on a hot day.

San Diego's Sea World Strategy for visitors is to plan your day based on the Sea World's special show schedule that you will receive when you enter the park. New in 2008 are two Sesame Street themed attractions. The first is Lights, Camera, Imagination which is a 4D movie that replaces Haunted Lighthouse. The second is playground called Sesame Street Bay of Play which replaces Shamu's Happy Harbor.
